Opened June 1, 2019, the Bedford Boys Tribute Center is the nation’s largest and most comprehensive museum promulgating the legacies of our famed “Bedford Boys.” Walk in their footsteps inside Bedford’s iconic and historic Green’s Drugstore where they hung out as young men. Learn about them growing up and about their supreme sacrifices made that forever teach us that freedom is not free.
Take A Tour
Our Educational Docent Team will provide a 45 minute tour that will take you back in time to the age of America’s Greatest Generation. After viewing the entire collection of the personal effects of the “Bedford Boys” and learning about their childhoods, schooling, and service in the Virginia National Guard, you will leave the Tribute Center with a strong sense of knowing “the boys you wish you knew.”

Worth a Detour for History Buffs
“For history buffs like me, the Bedford Boys Tribute Center was worth a detour. I have studied D-Day extensively, and traveled to Normandy. I had previously visited Bedford and read the book The Bedford Boys. But this new center, opened in 2019, was worth a detour. We found ourselves the first visitors of the day, and our hosts gave us an excellent tour. The old drug store is definitely what the name suggests: a tribute center. Rather than a stone memorial in front of the court house, this is the place that tells the stories of the men from Bedford who were lost on D-Day. Again, worth a detour.”
